Technology Thursday

1. Consumption

Water- about 4 glasses of water, took a 5 minute shower, washed hands, brushed teeth, flush toilet

Food- granola bar, peanut butter crackers, an orange, peanut butter sandwich, potato chips, chicken, spaghetti

Electricity- few lights on in the house, use computer for homework only, t.v. on for a little while

Gasoline- None

Money- Spent no money

2. Reduction

The two parts of my lifestyle I wanted to focus on reducing my use in were the use of electricity and the use of water. I feel like I am accomplishing reduction in both of these categories. The biggest portion of water usage is in the bathroom, and something like cutting down the time I spend in the shower. With electricity, I have focused on reducing my use of electronics, which is something I have accomplished well.

3. Sustainability

I can see my reduction of water and electricity becoming a long term deal. It is not hard reducing in these areas, and require small actions, like shorter showers and less t.v. Based on how well I have been able to accomplish these things this week, I can see this being something I can keep up on.

4. Peers

I noticed that many are focusing a lot in regards to cutting back on the use of water and money. Water has seemed to be the main goal of reduction, since we are studying water during class. I feel that if we already studied how the overuse of electricity has affected Earth, many would focus on that aspect as well. Because we are studying water so much now, many understand the importance of conserving it, so they will work on that more.

Try Harder Tuesday

1. Consumption

Water- Drank about 5 glasses of water, 5 minute shower, washed hands, brushed teeth

Food- an apple, bag of pretzels, a bagel, 2 oranges, peanut butter snadwich, and pasta

Electricity- put on very few lights when needed, t.v. on for a little while, computer only for homework

Gasoline- none

Money- none

2. Reduction

A big thing I was trying to do is to cut down on my use of the computer and other electronics, and also cut down on the time I spend in the shower. Those have been two of my major goals I have been working on the most, and I feel I succeeded in trying harder today to cut down on those uses.

3. Sustainability

My cut down in length for showers can be something I think I can definitely keep up on. I also think cutting back on my use of electronics can be made perminent. . The past few days have proved how it is possible to cut back on these things and not miss it that much.

4. Following Peers

By seeing what everyone else is doing, it makes me want to work a little harder to try to keep up with all the others. Seeing others work hard almost acts as a form as motivation to keep me working on conserving more.

1. Consumption

Water- I consumed a normal amount of water today. Nothing more or less than what i usually consume.

Food- I had less food than I normally do, and tried eating as natural food as i could, staying away from anything processed.

Electricity- Only used for lights when it got dark out. Other than that only used for watching t.v. and using the computer for homework.

Gasoline- Did not use any gas today.

Money- Didn’t spend any money either.

2. Reduction

I didn’t use electronics today as much as usual. Went the entire day without the use of my ipod and most of the day without my phone and computer. Also kept up with the theme of the day, not using a social network at all today.

3. Sustainabilty

I can see a lot of what I did today becoming part of my lifestyle, but different seasons of the year determine the amount of time I spend at home. Usually during the spring and summer i am not home a lot, so the use of electricity is very limited. It differs from fall and specifically winter, when I will spend a lot of time at home, which means i use more electricity.
